Climate Crisis, Geopolitical Realignment, and Structural Transformation in Developing Asia

This is a presentation summarizing a lecture delivered by Professor Ha-Joon Chang, a faculty member at SOAS University of the UK, during his visit to Indonesia. The lecture was hosted at the University of Indonesia, Salemba Campus. In his address, Professor Chang argued that industrialization is imperative for Indonesia to effectively address contemporary macro challenges, particularly climate change and geopolitical realignment. He further contended that the nation’s high dependency on commodities and its trend of premature de-industrialization must be reversed, asserting that failure to do so will result in severe future difficulties.
